Project Management offered by LIT Lifelong Learning

LIT Lifelong Learning department will offer the following programme from October 2010 in Ennis RLC:

PROJECT MANAGEMENT

Provider

Department of Electrical / Electronic Engineering at LIT

Aims

To provide the learner with a broad knowledge of the techniques, software tools and approaches used in project management in industry.

Having successfully completed this module, the learner will be able to:

Demonstrate an effective personal time management system.

Plan a project from concept proposal to completion.

List the techniques and plan a project to delivery on time and within budget.

Apply the essentials of project planning to new project management software in industry.

Apply people management tools to successfully manage project teams.

Entry Requirements

There are no formal entry requirements to take this module, however these are not introductory level modules and some familiarity with the area as well as a level of independent study would be expected for exam success.

Content

Personal Development: Organisational Considerations: Management Of Project Teams: Project Management: Planning Techniques: Resource Management: Project Finance And Reporting: Utilities (Microsoft Project Manager): Software Projects

Examination

Each taught module has a programme of continuous assessment worth 50% and a final exam worth 50%. It is necessary to pass both elements to achieve an award in the module. This programme can be completed as a stand-alone Single Subject Certificate. Please note, however, that Project Management is a common module from two Level 7 Ordinary Degree Programmes which are offered through Lifelong Learning at Limerick Institute of Technology – Bachelor of Engineering in Manufacturing Technology and Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical Technology. Students who are not registered on either Degree receive an LIT Subject Certificate on successful completion of the module. Students registered for the Degree will receive ECTS credits for each group of modules successfully completed. Accumulation of 60 credits will lead to the Degree Award. Duration

12 weeks, 1 night per week, from 7:00pm – 10:00 p.m.

This programme will be offered to run in two locations for the Autumn 2010 Semester – Ennis Regional Learning Centre and Limerick Institute of Technology, Moylish Park Campus.

Wednesday evenings, commencing Wednesday 6th October 2010 (Ennis Regional Learning Centre)

Thursday evenings, commencing Thursday 7th October 2010 (Limerick Institute of Technology, Moylish Park Campus)

Please note that this programme will run subject to viable numbers only. Also, please note that there will be one exam for all students, which will take place in Limerick Institute of Technology, Moylish Park Campus in January 2011.
