What is the Programme About?
This course will provide learners with foundation studies in Business modules combining practical information technology, knowledge and skills. The programme will facilitate learners to develop the multi-disciplinary skills and knowledge required to harness maximum benefit from the Information Technology underpinning modern business undertakings and practices.
Course Syllabus
Year 1: Financial Accounting; Interpersonal Skills & Computer Applications; Statistical Methods; Management & Business Operations; Business Law; Programming 1.
Year 2: Operations Management; Management & Cost Accounting; Programming; Information Storage & Management; Economics; Introduction to Marketing.
Entry Requirements
Students aged 18 to 22 will need Grade OD3 or higher in five subjects in the Leaving Certificate including Mathematics, and Irish or English. Cut off points: 205. Mature students (aged 23 and over) are not required to have Leaving Certificate and may be called for an interview. Students must satisfy the English language requirements for L.I.T. Time & Place
This is a full time course and will be delivered weekly from Monday to Friday, 9.30 am to 4 pm in Ennis Regional Learning Centre. Classes will take place from September to May each year.
Course Fee:
Students will have to pay the third level student registration fee of €2000. Students may qualify to have this paid for them, or may get it reimbursed to them, by their local VEC.
Additional Information
As this is a full-time course free fees will apply for eligible students in 2010/2011. Some students may be eligible for the Back to Education Allowance (BTEA) or a Higher Education Grant. Students can check their eligibility for these with the Department of Social Protection and Co. Clare VEC Grants section, respectively. A student receiving the BTEA cannot qualify for the Higher Education Grant, but may qualify to have their fees paid for them.
